Akai S5000
This time I repaired a great sampler – the Akai S5000.
The control panel microswitches had to be replaced. Unfortunately, these are very unusual parts (some with a built-in LED). They were once made by Alps, but today they are available only on AliExpress, from just two sellers, and they are expensive.
Of course, these were not original parts but replacements. They were slightly different in size – the slot in the button head was narrower. Because of this, mechanical work was needed (widening the slot) and the plastic caps had to be glued using a gentle adhesive, so they can be easily removed in the future if needed.
That’s the nature of very old parts. However, after the service, the control panel is fully functional again.
