Alesis MMT-8
This time I worked on repairing my favorite hardware sequencer, namely the Alesis MMT-8, in which most of the control panel buttons were not working. After cleaning and checking the silicone rubber keypad forming the device’s keyboard, it was also necessary to resolder and clean the entire control panel PCB due to its poor construction (weak vias and lack of solder mask) and oxidation of many traces.
Additionally, I replaced the device’s alphanumeric display (2×16 characters), because the original part had lost much of its original contrast. This required a small modification of the original contrast circuit, as well as modification (in fact replacement) of the connection ribbon cable linking the display to the main board. Finally, I thoroughly cleaned the device housing using a professional ultrasonic cleaner.
