Ensoniq MR Rack
The repair of this module involved replacing two incremental encoders: Parameter and Value. In practice, the Value encoder was the one that showed most of the inaccurate behavior (skipping values), but since the instrument was already in the service workshop, the owner asked (rightly) to replace both control elements. Unfortunately for him, these were very old (in terms of model) and high-quality branded Bourns encoders, and in this version they had no good substitutes. Because of that, I was forced to buy the original parts, which were quite expensive (about five times more than a typical encoder from Aliexpress).
On top of that, the CR2032 battery supporting the RAM memory was replaced, with the difference that the original battery soldered to the PCB was swapped for a dedicated socket and a standard CR2032 coin cell. According to the owner, this was meant to make future servicing easier. The inside of the unit and the external panel (including the knobs) were also cleaned.
