RAM Cartridge for the Yamaha DX7II / TX-802

A high-quality RAM cartridge for the Yamaha DX7II/TX-802 equipped with 32 independent memory banks, it replaces the original 32 Yamaha RAM4 cartridges, allowing you to save 2048 presets (32 banks of 64 presets each), as well as other settings that the original cartridge can store. Here are its main features:

  • compact, high-quality enclosure with dimensions of 63 × 87 × 13 mm,
  • various housing colors available: gray, black, red, yellow, white, beige,
  • two independent housing versions for the DX7II and TX-802, as in each of these instruments the cartridge slots are rotated 180 degrees relative to each other, so the display and function buttons had to be placed on opposite sides of the housing to be visible when operating the accessory,
  • built-in LED display showing the selected bank number (1 of 32),
  • last bank memory function,
  • write protection function,
  • ultralow power consumption (3 µA),
  • built-in CR2032 battery allowing for 7 to 10 years of operation (depending on environmental conditions),
  • capacity (for each bank):
    1. Voice & Performance: 64 Voices, 32 Performances, 2 Micro Tunings, 1 System Setup or
    2. Fractional Scaling: 64 Fractional Scalings or
    3. Micro Tuning: 63 Micro Tunings.
  • simple operation using 2 function buttons (bank switching and write protection control),
  • low cost: $90 (+ optional $5 for gold-plated version).

Controls:

  • a short press of the PLUS or MINUS button changes the memory bank number (each bank stores 64 presets or others settings),
  • a long press (0.5 s) of the PLUS button enables/disables write protection. Active protection is indicated by the decimal point lit on the right side of the ones digit,
  • pressing and holding the PLUS or MINUS button causes the memory bank number to change rapidly.

Please note that, as with the original RAM4 cartridge, before first use, each memory bank must be formatted using the appropriate instrument function. Each memory bank can be formatted for a different type of data to be stored (e.g. bank 1 can store Voice & Performance data and bank 2 Fractional Scaling data, etc.). Otherwise, the instrument will display an error message! Formatting must be performed independently for each of the 32 memory banks (by selecting it first using the PLUS/MINUS keys).

Similarly to the original Yamaha cartridge, the presented device can also be used with the following instruments: DX11, RX5, RX7, G10C, MSS1 and DMP7.
