Korg Polysix
This time an analog synth landed on my workbench — the Korg Polysix. In general I don’t repair analog synthesizers, but since it was brought to me by a regular and very friendly client, I made an exception. Fortunately, the repair turned out to be quite straightforward.
One broken key was replaced, the contact rubbers on three other keys were repaired, two rotary potentiometers (Volume and Release) were replaced, and the original RAM backup battery was replaced with a CR2032 cell (with the required Schottky diode). The last step required cleaning leaked electrolyte from the main board and reconstructing several damaged PCB traces. Simple tasks on paper, but they did require some careful work.
