Nord Wave 1
This time a real gem came in for repair — the Nord Wave 1. The main issues with this unit were non-functioning switches (most of them) and two non-original knobs. In other words, nothing complicated.
The manufacturer used rather unusual and very expensive switches (Marquardt 6450), which, as it turns out, are not particularly durable. Their only real advantage is that they don’t require an additional keycap, as it is integrated into their plastic housing. However, their price – dozens of times higher than that of a typical switch – does not translate into better quality.
It’s also worth noting that the instrument is well designed with servicing in mind, which made the repair quite straightforward and enjoyable.
