Roland JX-3P

The first classic synthesizer of this type to arrive at my workshop, where my task was to install a MIDI interface in the form of a ready-made module from Series Circuits. Since the installation instructions for this expansion proved to be quite straightforward, the installation itself presented no major difficulties, although it was fairly time-consuming due to the need to completely disassemble the instrument and carry out several modifications (including replacing the EPROM, removing selected components, making new connections, etc.).

In addition, I cleaned the front panel to remove the remains of a very strong adhesive left over from the installation of an external controller interface, and removed an old modification in which the original Rate slider had been replaced with a rotary potentiometer, thereby restoring the control panel to its original appearance (I had to buy the original, missing knob.). I also replaced the RAM backup battery, as I can’t comment on how the previous technician installed it.
