Korg X3

This instrument came to me in fairly good condition, or so it initially seemed. Unfortunately, it turned out that the main issue with the device was that some of the plastic keys on the control panel were completely destroyed (it’s hard to even talk about any previous repair attempts). Since new panels are unavailable and the price of used ones makes up a significant portion of the device’s value, I decided to repair the damaged panels by designing (in 3D) and then printing new buttons, which were then installed in place of the broken ones. It was quite a long and tedious process, but the final result made the effort worthwhile, and the cost of the new components was lower than that of the used ones.

Additionally, the following work was carried out:

  • replacement of all micro switches on the control panel,
  • replacement of the faulty (HV) backlight in the graphic display,
  • replacement of the memory backup battery,
  • uploading new presets,
  • cleaning of the instrument’s interior,
  • cleaning of the control panel.
